Black Kites
At least three USA artists have shared the name Black Kites.
1. Black Kites, New Jersey, Hardcore (2008-2012)
2. Black Kites, Los Angeles, Indie Rock (2005-2009)
3. Black Kites, Georgia, Indie Pop (2001-2004)
1. Formed in New Brunswick, New Jersey, their music emanates a depth and clarity reminiscent of 90’s hardcore with a technical, yet, cohesive composition. Their progressive sound is coupled with political lyrics, rooted in the trio's vegan straight edge lifestyle. Fronted by Jeff Guerriero, Black Kites also included Thomas R. Schlatter (guitars/vocals) ex-You and I, The Assistant, In First Person, This Ship Will Sink, and Jay Wiggin (percussion) of Zhenia Golov.
Black Kites announced their impending disbandment in December of 2011 and their last show was played on March 24th, 2012 in New Jersey, USA. Members of Black Kites have gone on to play in bands such as capacities, Less Life, Creem, Hounds of Hate, Natural Law and Altered Boys.
Reviews of the Black Kites/Convulsions split LP:
"This striking high-intensity release provides little room to breathe – and when you come up for air, you will want more…" - Little Cub Promotions
"After two full lengths and a split LP w/ Swallowed Up, Black Kites from New Jersey deliver six fresh songs of hardcore, somewhere between bands like Deadguy, Harvest or Disembodied. An emotionally devastating assault, aurally & lyrically. It's far beyond belief, that this wall of sound is made by three guys." - Nerdcore Records
"BLACK KITES moves forward with their aggressive yet emotionally unhinged sound that has taken them years to cultivate. Taking no issues lightly, lyrically BLACK KITES has proven to be just as harsh and cunning with words as their instrumental infrastructure..." - Glory Kid Records
